About Janet Weir

Janet fell in love with sound as a young child, when a piano appeared in the basement one day!  It became a lifelong best friend.  She went on to study piano and music education at the University of Michigan, music theory and composition at Juilliard, and jazz improvisation through the Lennie Tristano Jazz Foundation, with Kazzrie Jaxen.

She is best known for co-writing the “Reading Rainbow Theme Song,” and spent 25 years working at Oasis Music, producing music predominantly for children’s television.

During this time, she also was studying Yoga, Meditation and Kirtan (chanting) at the SYDA Yoga Ashram.  Music was consistently in her life, transforming her slowly.

A Sound Bath radically changed her life. All of the music studies and love of sound began to merge, along with a desire to serve.  She began Sound Healing studies at Sage Sound Academy, the Open Center and Integral Yoga. Her teachers include Joseph Schmidlin, Michael Jay, Silvia Nakach, Don Conreaux, Gary Strauss, Diane Mandel, Lea Garnier, John Beaulieu, Tito LaRosa.

Since 2018, Janet has been offering Sound Baths and Sound Meditations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  At present, sound meditations are received online (all around the country),  and Sound Baths are offered again in person!
